Faux Features
 The
MY 1958 Corvettes went a little over the top in styling with two chrome bands
running in parallel down the trunk and fake hood louvers. These adornments
appeared only on MY 1958 Vettes making them part of the Corvette collectors'
fare. Just under ten thousand Corvettes were sold...recording the most
sales since the Corvette was first produced. Thirty-nine per cent of
Vettes came with a 4-speed manual transmission, a $215.20 option (RPO 685).

Eight exterior colors were offered in MY 1958, just as they were
in MY 1957. Snowcrest White followed by Silver Blue and Charcoal were the
three most popular color choices with Signet Red a close fourth. This was the
first year that a red didn't make the top three color selections.
Silver, appearing on 193 Vettes, was the least popular. In addition, Polo
White disappeared from the lineup for the first time since 1953.
